Section Two: Knowledge Development

This section teaches the ideas behind the survey at the level a diver needs to run one. Each module develops one part of the method — what it measures, how, and why — and points to Appendix A for the quantitative detail and to Section Three for the in-water execution. The figures referenced here are the same ones used throughout the guide. None of the mathematics is required to run a survey; the modules teach the reasoning, so that a demographer understands what each recorded number means and what the result can and cannot say.

Quick check

Three questions, drawn at random from this lesson's set, one attempt each. The right answer is shown either way. Two of three opens the next lesson; fewer and you get another three. Nothing is recorded anywhere but this browser, and this is not the Knowledge Review — it is a way of showing the lesson was read.
