What the Demographer Brings to the Analysis

From each dive, the demographer carries clean field data, recorded on the slate:

For each of the six captures: the count N of reef-associated organisms — as two numbers, the in-water tally and the post-dive image count (Module 5, Appendix A.5).
The day's calibration: the visibility radius r and the calibration count K, both in kick cycles (Module 2, Appendix A.7).
The dive context: the hub reference (GPS fix and fixed-feature note), depth, date and time, and the visibility and conditions.

The demographer does not do arithmetic underwater, and need not do it by hand afterward; the role is to bring clean, complete field data. The calculator does the rest.
